BDHC started the match incredibly strong, passing the ball well in between Pelican's players and maintaining a constant pressure on their defensive line, with shots on goal peppering around the posts, which very much set the trend for the game. Sixteens were well covered by the Dragons keeping possession and a high defensive line held strong by Alice Brookes, Caroline Geddes and Rachel Gale back any stray runaway balls the Pelican's tried to optimise on. However, in spite of this consistent pressure and shot corners won, the Dragons attempts failed to hit the backboard, with many shots skimming past the posts and being rebutted off the line by Pelican's defenders. Half time came with no goals scored by either team. Keeping composure despite the number of excruciatingly near misses from the Dragons with Sophie Brittain and Becky Allum working the ball well through the midfield and out to the wings with excellent runs from Emily Murray and passes in to the D. Kerry Fisher was an invaluable driving force spurring on the Dragons though tensions started to run high between the two teams. A runaway ball happened to trickle through the Dragons midfield line and Pelicans worked the ball around Dragons defence resulting in a rare strike on goal hitting the backboard and bring the score to 1-0, infuriatingly for the Dragons. Refusing to give up, Dragons kept the pressure up but failed to convert anything. Final score, with the Dragons shaking their heads in sheer disbelief, 1-0 Pelicans.
