Ladies 1st’s were up against Saffron Walden last week, and it ended in a draw. We started off rocky, with them having most of the possession. They were awarded with the first short corners, but our defensive back 4 and the goalie were able to keep the ball out of the goal. We were then able to move the ball around the pitch to each other, with some good passes between Rosie, Sophie Brittain and Helena Darragh. This then meant that we were able to get a short corner, which unfortunately didn’t result in a goal. Saffron Walden were able to get the ball back into our defensive D and win another short corner. We were able to keep the ball out of the goal, but unfortunately, they were awarded yet another short corner, which resulted in them scoring. We came fighting back, and were then able to score, thanks to Jen Biggs. At half time, the score was 1-1.
In the second half, both teams were fighting for another goal. Saffron Walden were able to get more short corners, but our defence was able to keep the ball out of the goal and stop them from scoring another goal. We were able to have possession of the ball for a lot of the time and had lots of chances on goal, but unfortunately unable to get any in. We finished the game drawing 1-1 and man of the match was Alice Brookes for her great defence.
