It was mild, overcast day that the Dragons set off to play against Kettering. The weather managed to predict the course of the game. Starting off strong, the Dragons dominated and dictated the play of the game, eventually there was a chance for a goal. Attackers: Alessia, Flo, Becky, Libby and Norah were fighting tooth and nail to score the first goal of the game and it payed off with a flick from Alessia over the goalie. However Kettering came back hungry for revenge and managed to get pass the amazing defence consisting of Nadine, Caroline, Liz, and Eliana. This encouraged Kettering even more and led to another goal from them. But this just urged the Dragons to get vengeance causing Flo to fly down the side of the pitch all the way to the goal and with an elegant cross to Alessia, the Dragons equalised. With this, the Dragons kept fighting for the rest of the first half but it was not enough to keep out a last minute goal from Kettering.
The second half started with an unexpected tragic loss with Liz getting sent off temporarily. However this didn’t deter the Dragons and we kept battling for the win even with a player down. The war between Kettering and the Dragons waged on, with both teams having equal possession and chances, but it wasn’t to last. Kettering had found a second wind and managed to force another goal in. Once again the Dragons were faced with another unexpected challenge as Norah was sent off for reasons still unknown. But the Dragons kept their determination and fought with only 10 men, however even with all this strength and determination the Dragons weren’t able to defend 2 more goals from opposition Kettering.
